Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh:
Eight people died and seven were injured after a loader truck collided with an rickshaw in Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night, police said.
Police said the injured were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the accident happened on the trunk road in Maudaha Kotwali ward of Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
“Eight people died and seven injured in an accident which took place between a loader truck and an auto-rickshaw on the trunk road in Maudaha Kotwali area of Hamirpur. The injured were transferred to a hospital”, Vivek Yadav, Maudaha circle officer.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the Hamirpur crash.
“The accident in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh is very painful. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as the injured for a speedy recovery. The State Government and Administration are doing all they can to help the injured,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
