Across Africa – Press freedom around the world and the rise and risks of African journalism

World Press Freedom Day was an opportunity to take stock of some of the continent’s successes. Namibia and the Seychelles are among the few African countries where most journalists are women. Elsewhere, the profession still poses deadly risks. And they call on the government of Congo Brazzaville to do more to identify and support those who suffer from mental illness. It is a neglected problem across the continent and the fallout can have devastating consequences. And we’re heading to Benin to hear from some of the companies that are prioritizing the environmental and social well-being of their employees and customers for profit.
