Cheteshwar Pujara scored plenty of points for Sussex in the County Championship
Cheteshwar Pujara is back in India’s Test squad for the revamped 5th Test against England which will be played next month. Pujara was dropped for the home series against Sri Lanka after missing big runs in Test cricket. While Pujara has played several key shots over the past couple of years but he has failed to score a Test century since January 2019. This led to him being dropped from the Test squad after the defeat of India versus South Africa.
Pujara however went to England to play the County Championships and scored plenty of points for Sussex. The weight of his runs was so heavy that the selectors could no longer ignore him and included him for the test in England.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif praised Pujara’s determination and skills to get to the county and do plenty of errands. He also said that Pujara is a great example for young cricketers to follow.
“You can learn so much from Pujara. If you get dropped what should you do as a hitter? You go back to county, you go back to Ranji and you score runs and runs and I mean, score tons and tons of He’s done it. He’s an example for any young player who’s been let down and how to make a comeback. You should probably go back to Pujara and watch what he’s been up to in the last two months. He’s been a fantastic player. player for India as well. And I think he will play number 3 for India,” Kaif replied when asked by The Switzerland Times during a media interaction.
Pujara has been one of India’s top test batsmen for several years now. He scored 6713 points in 95 Test matches with an average of 43.87. He scored 18 centuries and 32 50s in test cricket.
