Berea man arrested for attempted murder


June 22 – A Berea man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a woman in the head.

On the evening of June 21, officers from the Berea Police Department responded to a residence in Logston Heights after receiving reports that someone had been shot.

After arriving at the scene, officers reportedly saw Aaron Clarke standing in front of a roadside residence. According to the arrest citations, Clarke raised his hands in the air and lay face down. He was then detained.

According to police documents, officers found a woman with what appeared to be a gunshot wound inside the residence. She was taken to hospital by EMS.

The text of the arrest citations stated that Clarke spoke to the officers who arrested him after reading his rights from Miranda. He allegedly claimed he had a verbal argument with the woman and that she said she was going to get an emergency protection order against him.

According to an arrest citation, Clarke then shot the woman in the head with a 9mm handgun and walked outside where officers arrested him.
