Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya, who owned the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL), took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a picture with West Indies cricket star Chris Gayle. Gayle, of course, was plying her trade for RCB from 2011-2017. “Great to have my good friend Christopher Henry Gayle @henrygayle back, boss of the universe,” Mallya wrote in her tweet, which went viral. “Great friendship since I signed him for RCB. Best acquisition of a player ever,” he added.

The tweet has garnered over 13,000 likes and 500 retweets since Mallya posted it.
Gayle was signed in 2011 as a substitute player by RCB but hasn’t looked back since then as he has become one of the best players to ever play in the IPL.
After his spell at RCB, he also represented the Punjab Kings. However, he did not register for the mega auction until IPL 2022.
He had also represented Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009 and 2010.
Promoted
Gayle has 4965 runs from 142 games in the IPL. He has a league average of 39.72 with a brilliant 148.96 strike rate.
He also has six centuries under his belt, including his unbeaten 175 against the defunct Pune Warriors in 2013, which remains the highest individual tally of any player in a T20.
