As governor, Ron DeSantis has been a strong supporter of our industry, keeping hotels and restaurants safely open and functioning when other states close their doors. Governor DeSantis’ leadership has saved countless jobs and businesses in our state and allowed our industry to thrive again.

“He understands the critical role hospitality and tourism play in the economic vitality of our state, and we are confident he will continue to do so in his second term as governor,” added Dover when Florida president Scott Shalley Retail Federation, who echoed comments.

“The governor is committed to keeping Florida open for business and has enabled retail to overcome these challenging times and thrive. We are proud to support his campaign,” Shalley said.

Florida has indeed experienced record numbers of tourism, especially in 2021, with the highest levels of domestic visitation in state history.

“By keeping the state open, Florida has had record-breaking tourism, our workforce is larger than the nation, and we’ve reached record levels of unemployment and job creation. Florida continues to prove that the Freedom Agenda works,” the governor said.

In addition, DeSantis received an endorsement from Florida Realtors on Friday, as Florida Realtors CEO Margy Grant described the governor as “a true champion of the real estate industry and the professionals who work in it.” Grant also pointed out how the governor handled the pandemic:

Whether it was identifying ourselves as essential at the start of the pandemic, being a vocal advocate for affordable housing solutions, or working hard to protect Florida’s natural resources, the governor clearly recognizes the importance of real estate agents and the critical services they provide to Floridians.

Meanwhile, one of Crist’s biggest messages of support of the week came from none other than California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who pledged $100,000 to the Democrat’s campaign:

It remains unclear how that approval will resonate with Florida voters, millions of whom are happy that Florida works differently than blue California. Crist retweeted an article touting Newsom’s endorsement, a clear sign of his own eagerness to receive it.
