“Michigan is proud to lead the Lake Michigan Electric Vehicle Circuit Tour, a collaboration among other Midwesterners to grow our economy, create more high-paying jobs and lead the future of mobility and electrification,” Whitmer said in a statement.
Officials say the “Route 66 electric” tour will include a network of EV chargers spanning 1,100 miles of motorable shoreline along the lake.

State officials say the chargers will be located in key coastal communities near lighthouses, state parks, breweries, vineyards, restaurants and other small businesses. They will also join existing charging networks at major entertainment centers along the route in Chicago, Milwaukee and Green Bay.
“The track allows travelers to experience Lake Michigan and visit numerous communities in and around the route. I am so proud that we have come together to forge this twofold agreement. Let’s move Michigan — and the Midwest — forward,” Whitmer said.
