Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley has confirmed her character Mandy Dingle’s return to the soap opera after taking a break from the show due to a heartbreaking personal loss.

Lisa, 45, took time off from filming after being devastated by the death of her beloved grandmother, while the star also failed to attend the British Soap Awards earlier this month.

But taking to Instagram this week, Lisa gave fans an update on her character’s return and teased when they can expect to see the bartender back on screens.

Uploading a smiling selfie on Wednesday, Lisa revealed she had returned to the Leeds set to film some new scenes and was also embarking on a new project.

She wrote: “Just finished filming a great day in the studio at @emmerdale, now I’m on my way in the car down south to film something else for the day…that should be a REAL good laugh, I’m look forward to it.”

When a fan then asked when fans can expect to see Mandy back in Emmerdale, Lisa confirmed, “Mid-July.”

Fans were quick to share their joy at the news, writing, “Can’t wait to see Mandy back in Emmerdale.”

Earlier this year, Lisa opened up about her grief for another parent as she revealed she had put all wedding plans on hold as the day “won’t be special” after her mother’s death in 2012.

The soap opera star has been with partner Al for seven years, with the couple getting engaged in 2018.

But speaking of a potential wedding in February, Lisa said: “There would be an empty seat and I wonder how I would cope.”

Lisa’s beloved mother, Cath, died of arm cancer at the age of 57.

The TV star said she couldn’t bear to set a date as she felt the day would be “painful”.

However, she is in no rush to marry her fiancé as she revealed that ‘their life is as beautiful as she is’.

She told the Mirror: ‘I already call him my husband and he calls me his wife. We just didn’t walk down the aisle and collect the ring and papers.

The star revealed that whenever they decide to get married, it won’t be a big day and that will only include close family.
