ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Edoardo Mortara won Round 7 of the Berlin E-Prix, the first of 2 races in the German capital. The Swiss driver converted his pole position into victory and controlled the entire race from the lead, except when he lost a few places using his 2 attack modes. DSTecheetah driver Jean-Eric Vergne returned home to finish the race in P2, to close his points gap with Vandoorne, who made a miraculous recovery to finish in P3 after dropping to 12th in the opening laps. .

Jean-Eric Vergne gave it his all, but only managed to bring P2 back.
JEV gave his all towards the closing stages of the race to take the lead, and on lap 37 he opted for an ambitious move after a mistake by Mortara, and couldn’t hold it, leaving him under pressure from Vandoorne and André Lotterer’s Porsche. Vergne managed to hold on to second place, despite pressure from Vandoorne, and closed the championship gap by 3 points. The Frenchman has yet to win a race this season despite finishing 2nd in the championship – just 3 points behind Vandoorne – and he says it’s a matter of ‘when, not if’ he wins a race this year.

Stoffel Vandoorne made a good comeback to finish on the podium.
Vandoorne drove an epic recovery race after dropping to P12 on the opening laps. Following his Monaco E-Prix victory, the Belgian rider gained place after place until he took the lead, but Mortara passed him to take the lead using his attack mode. Shortly after Mortara returned to the lead, Vergne made a move towards Vandoorne to take P2, and he did enough to push him back despite struggling in the closing stages.

The race was spectacular from the start. Early in the race, Antonio Felix da Costa attempted a move on Mahindra Racing’s Alex Sims from P3, but the leading trio came out of Turn 1 as they were. After that, da Costa abandoned the order to finish 8th , as Sims finished behind him in P9. Sims’ teammate Oliver Rowland failed to finish in the points as he was only able to return to P11 after starting the race in P17.
It’s tight at first between @AlexanderSims and @afelixdacosta ⚔️@edomortara extends his lead ahead…

The Porsche drivers battled with title contender Mitch Evans for the P4, and they finished with Lotterer securing the P4 ahead of Evans and Wehrlein. Evans worked his way up from 9th and picked up some decent points to keep his title hopes alive as title rival Robin Frijns could only finish 12th after qualifying in 20th, losing a place in the championship standings. Apart from this change of order, the top 10 of the World Championship remain in the same order, the gap at the top being only 3 points.
