Man who sold drugs before fatal overdose convicted of murder

MANKATO, Minn. – A 27-year-old man was convicted on Wednesday after pleading guilty to murder in connection with a fatal overdose last year.

Jesse Barnhart31, died in Mankato on May 28, 2021. His autopsy showed that heroin and fentanyl were in his system.

The Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force says Myles Daniel Hickman, who was arrested by officers and charged with third-degree murder last August, admitted to selling Barnhart the drugs during his plea hearing.

Hickman was sentenced to 74 months in prison on September 21 and was given a credit of 394 days for the time he had already served.
