Netflix announces the release date of Anek by Ayushmann Khurrana


Anek is set to hit Netflix on June 26, nearly a month after it debuted in theaters on May 27. On Friday, the streaming platform announced the same with a poster featuring Ayushmann Khurrana in an intense avatar. The message read: “Anek hurdles, ek goal! #Anek is coming June 26th, only on Netflix.”. However, he did not mention what time the Hindi feature film will drop on the platform. released at 12:30 p.m. IST / 12 p.m. PT – but Anek is not a Netflix original.

With Khurrana headlining, Anek’s cast includes JD Chakravarthy, Andrea Kevichüsa, Deeplina Deka, Manoj Pahwa and Kumud Mishra in key roles. Anubhav Sinha (Thappad) is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani. Sinha is credited as one of Anek’s producers, alongside Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.

Anek’s story revolves around Aman/Joshua of Khurrana, an undercover agent who undertakes a dangerous mission to bring peace to northeast India. The film received mixed reviews, with critics praising the Gulabo Sitabo the actor’s performance but criticizing the script and the execution. Made on a budget of nearly Rs. 80 crore, Anek raised nearly Rs. 12 crore in his lifetime, ending in a colossal flop.

For Khurrana, Anek was her first major release since romantic comedy-drama Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, which received a lukewarm response at the box office last December. Anek is coming to Netflix at a time when he is working on social drama Doctor Gwhich marks his first collaboration with Rakul Preet Singh (Runway 34) and Shefali Shah.
