New Xiaomi smartwatch expected to launch without eSIM support: report

Xiaomi is reportedly about to launch a new smartwatch as the wearable has reportedly been spotted on the Chinese 3C certification website. The laptop was spotted with model number M2134W1 and 5W charging support. This new Xiaomi smartwatch could come with support for audio playback and storage function, the report adds. The wearable is also designed to skip eSIM support. Although other details regarding the wearable are unknown, it is said to be the successor of Xiaomi Watch Color 2 which needs to be upgraded.

According to a report by ITHome, a new smartwatch from Xiaomi was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s 3C certification on April 29. The smartwatch was spotted with 5W charging support, audio playback and storage features. The laptop was also seen with model number M2134W1. The name of this new smartwatch is still unknown.

Tipster Digital Chat Station shared on Chinese microblogging platform, Weibo, that this new smartwatch from Xiaomi will not be supported by eSIM. According to a report from Gizmochina, this new Xiaomi smartwatch may be launched with the moniker of Xiaomi Watch Color 3 as the successor of Xiaomi Watch Color 2.

The Xiaomi Watch Color 2 was launched in China in September last year with 117 sports modes and up to 12 days of battery life on a single charge. It has a 1.43-inch AMOLED color touchscreen with 60Hz refresh rate and 326ppi pixel density. It has a 470 mAh battery and a magnetic charger. It comes with a 5AT water resistance rating and built-in GPS for self-tracking.

The Watch Color 2 also lacked eSIM support. In addition to sports modes, it also comes with 19 professional sports modes and over 200 customizable watch faces. For health tracking, it has heart monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep monitoring, stress monitoring, breathing guides, menstrual cycle tracking, and more.

Xiaomi has yet to announce the name, launch schedule, specs, pricing and other details of the rumored smartwatch.
