Start-up Nunam Technologies, which manufactures energy storage devices, will partner with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) to run a pilot for the implementation of a battery prognostics and energy management system. health for electric buses, accelerator program organizer WRI India said on Thursday.

Nunam Technologies and commercial fleet electrification software company Microgrid Labs have been shortlisted for World Resources Institute India (WRI India) Better e-Bus Challenge electric bus accelerator program.

The program is supported by the E-Bus Mission of the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).
The selection of the two companies for the program allows them to pilot their solutions with partner government entities.

“Nunam Technologies will partner with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) company in Mumbai. The company will pilot the implementation of a battery prognosis and health management (PHM) system for electric buses .

“The system monitors battery health and performance in real time for operational optimization and safety of electric buses, passengers and operators,” WRI India said in a statement.

The two companies will receive implementation support of up to $50,000 (almost Rs. 40 lakh) and will also receive expert advice.

“Microgrid Labs will work with Bengaluru Municipal Transport Corporation (BMTC) in Bengaluru. Their solution will support the planning and analysis, automation and optimization of the charging process and vehicle dispatch,” the statement said.

Earlier in May, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) announced that it would launch its first-ever electric bus on June 1 on the Pune-Ahmednagar route on the day the state-run transport body enters the 75th year of its operations. .

MSRTC is one of the largest state-owned public transport companies in the country with a fleet of over 16,000 buses. The loss-making company was carrying more than 65 lakh passengers daily before the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.
