A straphanger was left bleeding in the head Friday after a struggle with a mugger on a subway stairway in Greenwich Village, police said.

The victim, described as in his 50s, was on the steps of Manhattan’s West Fourth Street-Washington Square station just after noon when the suspect suddenly grabbed him by the backpack, authorities said.

The suspect argued with the male suspect, who took an undisclosed amount of money from him, police said.
