Feeling ‘aggrieved’, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to challenge the proposed extended window of two and a half months for the Indian Premier League. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said the issue will be raised at the next ICC conference. “There has been no announcement or decision yet on increasing the IPL window. I will give my views on this matter at the ICC conference,” Raja said during a press conference here on Friday.
“My view is clear: if there is a development in world cricket which means that we are wronged, we will contest it very vigorously and make our case strongly in the ICC,” he said. he declared.
The PCB’s move to formally challenge the ruling comes weeks after BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in an exclusive interview with PTI that the Indian council will get an extended window for the IPL in the next FTP round of the ICC from 2024 to 2031.
“Starting with the next FTP cycle, IPL will have an official window of two and a half months for all top international cricketers to participate. We have had discussions with various councils as well as the ICC,” Shah had said. at PTI. .
Raja also said that while Pakistan is keen to play with India, the political equation between the neighbors continues to stand in the way.
“I spoke to Saurav (Ganguly) on the sidelines about this and told him that there are currently three former cricketers heading their cricket boards and if they can’t tell a difference, who will?” Raja said.
“Twice Ganguly invited me to attend the IPL final last year and this year and as far as cricket was concerned it made sense to go but then because of the situation we had to consider the fallout from accepting invitations,” he added. PTI SG SG AH AH
