Police Garland: Driver dies after speeding, lost control of pickup

GARLAND, Texas (TSWT) — One person was killed early Wednesday morning after losing control of the car in Garland.

At about 3:45 a.m., Garland Police were called to an accident on southern S. Jupiter Road. Police said the officers who responded initially believed an oversized vehicle and a pickup truck collided, causing the pickup truck to overturn.

However, when the investigators started working on the spot, they determined that the vehicles were not hitting each other.

Police said they believe the pickup was traveling at high speed on S. Jupiter Road and passed the oversized vehicle before losing control of the vehicle. The driver then overcorrected, hit some construction vessels and then overturned, police said.

The driver of the pickup was killed. Their identities have not been released at this time.
