A Shelby man was killed in the Highlands community of Gastonia early Tuesday morning, the Gastonia Police Department said.
Keenen Deangelo Banner, 31, was found in the 800 block of Rankin Avenue around 1:15 a.m., police spokesman Rick Goodale said.
A caller had reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing someone on the road, Goodale said.
Banner had been shot in the upper body. He was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police do not yet know who shot Banner, Goodale said.
“We don’t have anything at the moment,” Goodale said Tuesday.
