A Griffin man is now behind bars after shooting his father and killing a woman, Griffin police said.

Just before 3 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to the Vineyard Village apartments on Highway 16 about a person with a gunshot wound.
When they arrived, the police found two victims, a man and a woman with gunshot wounds.
James Riley Williams, 53, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach.
The second victim, Lisa Blanton, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said they found the man’s son, James Riley Williams IV, in the apartment.
Officials say Williams IV was in possession of marijuana and a handgun at the time of the incident.
The 26-year-old was arrested and taken to Griffin Police Jail. He faces charges of malicious murder and weapons.

The father was taken to a local hospital, where police said he was stable.
Officials said the incident appears to be related to the country. It is unclear what the relationship between Williams and Blanton was.
The investigation is ongoing.
