The British Army soldier who died on Salisbury Plain on Tuesday June 21 has been named Max George, 26.

The Second Lieutenant was a member of the 5th Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES) and was conducting a training exercise involving tanks when the accident occurred.

George suffered significant head injuries in the incident and died at the scene shortly thereafter.

The Ministry of Defense described him as an “exemplary” reservist who was regularly “ranked as the best among equals” before joining his battalion.

He finished in the top 10 during the tactical phase of the challenging platoon commander battle course.
