UniSwap Labs, the lead developer of leading decentralized protocol UniSwap, has acquired market aggregator NFT Genie. The move will further integrate NFT functionality into UniSwap Labs’ product line.
In an announcement by UniSwap on Tuesday, the developers said the move will unlock universal ownership and trade NFTs on the DeFi protocol.

The acquisition of Genie will enable UniSwap to integrate NFT marketplaces into the UniSwap web application and also integrate NFTs into its widgets and APIs. This will make UniSwap a “complete platform for users and builders in Web3”.
Buy and sell NFTs on UniSwap
According to a tweet on a UniSwap tweet thread, the protocol says people will be able to buy and sell NFTs directly on the UniSwap web app starting this fall.
The tweet says:
“Starting this fall, you will be able to buy and sell NFTs directly on the Uniswap web application. And we will integrate NFTs into our developer APIs and widgets, making Uniswap a complete platform for users and builders in web3.
This is not the first time that UniSwap has been involved in NFTs. In 2019, it launched Unisocks, which offers NFT liquidity pools backed by real-world assets. Therefore, the acquisition of Genie will go a long way in strengthening the protocol’s NFT program.
USDC Airdrop
Consistent with the Genie acquisition, UniSwap said it plans to airdrop USDC to incumbent Genie users, claimable for up to twelve months.
