Virat Kohli during the Indian Tour game against Leicestershire
Although India got off to a bad start in the warm-up game against Leicestershire on Thursday, one positive sign was former captain Virat Kohli’s stick. He hit with confidence and looked set for a big score. Besides his confident stroke game, there was another point up Kohli’s sleeves that went viral on social media. On day one, 34-year-old Kohli was seen trying to balance the bat without any support. It was reminiscent of what former England captain Joe Root did in a recent Test match against New Zealand.
Kohli was unbeaten at the crease when rain interrupted play on the opening day of the tour match against Leicestershire.

Root himself was in great form and became the newest member of the Test cricket 10,000 runners club.
He left Kohli, Kane Williamson and Steve Smith in his wake in the longest format with consistent hitters and big scores.
His efforts helped England pocket the series against New Zealand as they took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series following victory at Trent Bridge.
