The 2022 IPL season ended on Sunday after Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans beat Rajasthan Royals in the pinnacle clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans beat Rajasthan by seven wickets and 11 balls to spare in the final and the team won the title in their first season. Since the end of the season, Twitter India revealed that Royal Challengers Bangalore won on Twitter – becoming the most tweeted team of the season.
“While Gujarat Titans (@gujarat_titans) won the tournament trophy, Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) won on Twitter – becoming the most tweeted team of the season. The team’s former skipper, Virat Kohli (@imVKohli), also remained the service’s TSWT talker – becoming the most tweeted player of the season,” an official statement said.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) took the top spot among the most tweeted teams this season while Chennai Super Kings (@ChennaiIPL), who have won the trophy four times, and Mumbai Indians five times (@mipaltan) took home the trophy in second and third place respectively,” the statement read.
They were followed by Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) and Kolkata Knight Riders (@KKRiders) – two other fan favorites who kept viewers on the edge of their seats and tuning in to #CricketTwitter throughout the season . Gujarat Titans (@gujarat_titans) rank sixth among the most tweeted teams on Twitter.
Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) tops the list of most tweeted players. MS Dhoni (@msdhoni) was in second place, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma (@imRo45) is next on the list followed by Ravindra Jadeja (@imjadeja) who took over CSK captain from MS Dhoni more early in the season.
