Woman faces charges after McKees Rocks hit-and-run

The ring’s surveillance video shows the times a woman was hit by a red Jeep on Woodward Avenue in McKees Rocks, and when the driver drove off.

Investigators say the woman who was shot and another man were lost and stopped to find out where they should go.

Police say the red Jeep swept the parked car sideways and the woman in the car got out to confront the driver. Then the driver took off.

The woman who was driving, according to detectives, is Samantha Baurhenn.

She now faces multiple counts, including aggravated assault by a vehicle.

Joy Hopewell, the neighbor who gave us her Ring video, says the driver isn’t totally to blame.

“You can see (the victim) standing right in front of the vehicle, preventing him from being able to leave,” Hopewell said.

Hopewell says the victim became aggressive.

“She walked around not only the front of the vehicle, but also the side of the vehicle, and opened the woman’s car door. You don’t do that,” Hopewell said.

That’s when the driver took off, hitting the woman.

“In this neighborhood, we don’t stay for stuff like that. You don’t stand there when someone yells at you, you leave. You don’t know if they’re going to have a gun or a knife or if they’re going to hurt you,” she added.

Meanwhile, several children were watching from the corner of the street where they were playing.

“It was really scary, and I’m heartbroken for them because it scared them,” she said.
