Woman shot, injured during argument on CTA Red Line train in Loop


CHICAGO (TSWT) – A woman was injured just after midnight on Saturday after being shot on a CTA Red Line train.

Chicago police said around 12:09 a.m., officers responded to a person who had been shot on the 100 block of North State Street.

The 30-year-old victim was shot while on the train during an argument with an unknown perpetrator, according to police.

The victim could not provide more details about the incident.

Witnesses on the train described the chaos as it happened.

“Someone said there was a gun and then we all started running. And like we were trying to keep it orderly and then we closed the door behind us so everyone was safe. And then we knew there were a lot of police officers,” Autumn said. Chester.

Red Line trains are being diverted over the elevated Loop. A shuttle bus service is being set up between State and Lake and Fullerton, CTA said.
